Alison Wonderland confronts the darkness with explosive new track “Bad Things”

Alison Wonderland gets back into the spotlight, with her new single "Bad Things" out now through EMI Recorded Music Australia is a brave and powerful statement from the Australian-based DJ and producer, showing she's not afraid to look her shadows in the face.

“Bad Things” is both raw, intense, and confrontational. Backed by haunting production and a pulsing, at times claustrophobic energy, the track has the sense of an ongoing fight. Wonderland has never been one for emotional sugarcoating, but here she fully leans into the bitter pill of what it means to draw a line in the sand and look your demons in the eye rather than pretending they don’t exist.

The creepy mood of the song is only heightened by the eerie video, directed by Peter Don and produced by Satien Mehta. Shot at a spooky rural ranch in Santa Clarita, the visuals are intentionally uneasy, skirting  between isolation and self-examination. Each frame hammers home the song’s central message, You don’t grow without confronting what frightens you.

“Bad Things” isn’t merely its dark edge, but its clear-eyedness, that darkness is lit just fine. Alison Wonderland doesn’t romanticize pain, she exposes it with scorching light. The song pulses with tension, but there’s also empowerment in that tension, a return to taking the reins by naming the chaos. “Bad Things” isn’t a comfortable listen, nor should it be. It’s a bold reminder that healing isn’t always pretty sometimes the bravest thing you can do is stop running. Alison Wonderland does more than come back, she reclaims her place, louder and brasher than ever.
