KEYANA Channels pain and power on “SCORPIO”

KEYANA's “SCORPIO” is not a song that tiptoes up and whimsically taps at your ears, it kicks in the door. The Singaporean R&B singer’s second single, which debuted last November 6th, comes after her debut “Save It” as she takes a confident leap into new sounds and narratives. A lot of songs dance around heartbreak, “SCORPIO” looks at it straight on.

The record was produced by Danish Naufal and has a dark, simmering edge that matches its subject matter flawlessly. “SCORPIO” dives into the emotional heaviness of feeling stuck in a toxic relationship, submitting to someone and trying to break free as that person fills you with control, frustration and self-doubt. KEYANA's delivery is raw and unfiltered, so that every ounce of desperation or anger below the surface can be felt.

“SCORPIO” blends with openness and strength. KEYANA does not only speak pain, she confronts it. Her lyrics condemn destructive patterns while also recognizing the inner resilience it requires to walk away. There’s some empowerment in that honesty, though, meaning the song reads less like a diary entry and more like one of freedom.

“SCORPIO” is a coming-of-age moment for KEYANA, an extremely emotional R&B release which further signals her willingness to share painful truths. It’s a song for anyone who has felt small and helpless in love, but somehow summoned the strength to prioritize themselves. The song’s visual tension is reinforced in the Island Boys-directed music video. It reflects the sense of being trapped while looking for a way out, intensifying the urgency in KEYANA’s words.
