ODESZA find light in uncertainty with stirring new single “Hopeful”

ODESZA's new song, “Hopeful,” captures the emotional toll of maintaining bonds when the world seems uncertain. The song is powered by the duo’s trademark sense of atmosphere, emotional truth, and a quiet power that feels at once intimate and expansive. The song might not have made the final cut for The Last Goodbye, but the song clearly meant a lot to the duo, eventually becoming a staple of their live sets and now taking center stage in its own right.

The arc of the song is so beautifully human, a reminder that not all important music happens on a perfect timeline. In a statement about the release, the duo said the song was originally intended to open "The Last Goodbye," but was cut from the final album. But their relationship with the song never died. Rather, it grew through live performances where the audience could feel the music's emotional weight firsthand.

The lasting attachment speaks volumes about the heart that went into the track. It doesn’t sound like a lost outtake, it sounds like a song waiting for the right time. The release is about the duo’s need to cling to optimism in times of doubt and instability, and that feeling saturates every moment of the song.
