London-based post-punk band Squid travel an interesting journey into the origins of human nature with their new music. "Cro-Magnon Man" explores a flawed, seemingly hopeless self through the image of the cave the Cro-Magnon man lived in.
"Cro-Magnon Man" uses the cave as a space for self-examination. At its heart is the idea of exploring a pathetic or hopeless version of yourself, while also recognizing that this figure is tied to what humans are genetically based on. Squid explores a hopeless self, creating space to think about where humanity comes from and what uncomfortable parts of ourselves may still be connected to those beginnings.
Squid is a five-piece, made up of Ollie Judge on vocals and drums, Louis Borlase on guitar, Arthur Leadbetter on keyboards, Laurie Nankivell on bass, and Anton Pearson on guitar, who bring the concept to life. "Cro-Magnon Man" was written by Anton Pearson, Arthur Leadbetter, Laurie Nankivell, Louis Borlase, and Ollie Judge. Produced by Marta Salogni, Grace Banks and Dan Carey, the track is a collaborative effort from a creative team.
