Daisy the Great turns heartbreak into a bond that lasts with the new heartfelt song "Bird Bones"

Brooklyn alt-pop duo Daisy the Great have released "Bird Bones," a personal tribute to their late friend, Stephanie Rae Shafir, and a meditation on the fragile ties that connect grief, memory, and eternal love. Kelly Nicole Dugan sings and plays keyboards, and Mina Walker sings and plays guitar. It's about the loss of someone you love and the unexpected ways you can still feel them."

"Bird Bones" is a collection of memories and defining moments by Bernardo Ochoa, Kelley Nicole Dugan, Matti Dunietz, and Mina Walker. Produced by Catherine Marks. After Shafir died, the objects of her daily life became concrete reminders of the love and connection that survived her absence. Daisy the Great's "Bird Bones" is a soft meditation on memory that finds comfort in the idea that love can survive in memories, and in the dire events that revive it.

The song was inspired by a few moments, including a walk by a cemetery near the house, where a bird skeleton on the road took on a deeply personal meaning. This experience connected an ordinary scene with the remembrance of a friend, offering a fresh perspective on how grief can imbue familiar places with unexpected significance.

It's a way for Daisy the Great to keep a friendship that still counts. Don't think of loss as the end of a relationship, but as an opportunity to carry someone's impact, kindness, and love into the future. It recognizes that remembrance is not only looking back but also making space for someone's presence in the continuing life.
