The Scottish post-punk band Dead Pony is back in full force with their new single "Eat My Dust!", and it doesn't feel like a comeback, it feels more like a statement of intent. After a period of quiet following their 2024 single, "Everything Burns," and debut album, "IGNORE THIS," the band returns sounding sharper, heavier, and more self-assured than ever.
Dead Pony, made up of Anna Shields (vocals), Blair Crichton (guitar), Liam Adams (bass), and Euan Lyons (drums), brings a new feeling of energy to "Eat My Dust!" The song conveys the feeling of moving on, letting go of old negativity, shedding old burdens, and speeding toward something bigger. The band delivers its message with a lot of confidence, as if they are living the change they are talking about.
The song builds to pounding rhythms and forceful guitar work that hints at metalcore influences but stays true to Dead Pony's post-punk sound. This is a big change that doesn't feel like an experiment, instead, it feels like the band is excited to go in this new direction. Guitarist Blair Crichton says that the song came about because the band wanted to move on and leave critics behind.
Dead Pony wrote and produced "Eat My Dust!" and also directed a music video for it, filmed by Zak Pinchin. This shows how creative the band is and how much they are involved in their own work. The song will be on an EP coming out in 2026, and if this single is any indication, Dead Pony is going full speed ahead into their next chapter.
