Basement explores tough choices in latest track "The Way I Feel"

British rock stalwarts Basement make a passionate return with their emotionally charged third single, “The Way I Feel,” from the long-awaited release of their fifth studio album, WIRED, set for May 8, 2026, via Run For Cover.

From its opening audio loop, designed by Alex Henery, “The Way I Feel” places listeners in a contemplative headspace, setting the mood for an intimate and expansive song. Crafted collaboratively by Fisher, Henery, Duncan Stewart, James Fisher, and Ronan Crix, the song speaks to the universal tension of being at the crossroads of a life-changing decision.

As Andrew Fisher writes, the lyrics grapple with courage and accountability, as well as the push-and-pull of craving acknowledgment while granting forgiveness, a duality reflected in the track’s restrained yet urgent instrumentation.

The single, produced by John Congleton, threads the needle between simplicity and sophistication. Guided by Henery and Crix’s guitars, the steady pulse matched to Stewart and James Fisher gives the lyrical flow space to breathe without losing a step.
