The artist on the song’s inspiration stated, there’s something disorienting about the realization of how one can infiltrate every part of your being. The song has that emotional depth. It’s about how relationships can build us up and make us feel strong, but can also leave scars that continue to shape us into the people we become years later, in modest ways.
Buried emotions resurfaced when Briggs began writing songs with K.Flay. The springboard for a song that doesn’t shy away from ache, fragility, or emotional exhaustion was what she calls an unopened wound.
