Lecx Stacy reaches for the divine on “With You, I’d Be Closer to God”

Lecx Stacy makes devotion on his arresting new single, "With You, I’d Be Closer to God." " A master of fusing memory, identity, and sound into emotionally captivating musicals, Stacy opens the door to his innermost thoughts yet again, this time with the power of belief, romance, and dancefloor catharsis as his thematic guide.

A first-generation Filipino American, raised in San Diego and now residing in Los Angeles, Stacy’s connection to music has always been intensely personal. Karaoke-filled family weekends, early piano lessons, and beat-making sessions with his older brother became both sanctuary and survival. Once his brother died, the tools left behind were more than equipment, they were a lifeline. That feeling of music as a way into the spirit beats through every second of this new release.

“With You, I’d Be Closer to God” was written following tours with Sega Bodega and Eartheater, a creative moment in time that communicates a “turning point”. The lyrics openly grapple with Lecx’s new Catholic faith, but there’s nothing preachy about it. Instead, faith is cast as desire,  romantic, weak, and seeking. To love someone is the same as getting into heaven.

With this release, Lecx Stacy continues to lay claim to a territory that feels entirely his own, romantic yet fidgety. “With You, I’d Be Closer to God” isn’t a song so much as a prayer masquerading as a love story.
