Mayday Parade bottle up reckless freedom and pure emotion on “Blame It On The Youth”

Mayday Parade's new single, “Blame It On The Youth,” captures what it's like to be young and free, the memories that follow you late at night, and the emotional weight that has defined the band's sound for years. Mayday Parade wrote the track in a profoundly collaborative process that reminded them why it’s still special to make music together.

The song stems from a powerful emotion and a chorus that reflects the speed and care with which it was written from the very beginning. This song is super special for us, said the band. We did it with our longtime collaborators, Zack Odom and Kenneth Mount, and it felt natural how it all came together from start to finish. Jake came in with this great song, and we all got swept up in it.

You can hear that sense of togetherness in the song itself. The track is all about big feelings, the kind of energy that draws people together right away, whether it’s being surrounded by a crowd or playing on a drive with the windows down. There's a nostalgic spirit to it, but it never gets stuck in the past.
